NOUVEAU CUBOID HOUSE

This home was made specifically for a family of Jaipur-based textile designers and producers. The basic concept of the design was the marriage of Jaipur's cultural aesthetic and contemporary relevance.

 

The design celebrates the family textile heritage by redefining it in contemporary detail. The designer combined all the modern forms, traditional Jaipur motifs, and rich, intricate textiles to get the outcome. All the materials used for house construction, finishing, and detailing were locally sourced. The detailing includes highly personalized elements such as self-created doors by mixing the textiles between two frames. It creates a connection between dwellers and dwellings that nothing else could. Throughout the house, patterns are over the space through textiles, jails, and the play of light and shadow. This house was designed to reflect the city's aesthetics and is rooted in the modernist expression of Jaipur.
