INTERIOR
HOUSE OF CHIC
One of the most challenging projects for a designer and their team is working with the finished shell of any structure. Similar was the case of the front lobby in the House of Chic that involved design construction and project management by Gangwal PMC. House of Chic is a five-bedroom apartment in a posh neighborhood with an area of 2500 sq. ft in Jaipur.
The most typical task was to turn a ready-to-move apartment into a luxury one which required a lot of effort on the interiors to renovate the place. The layout was the first challenge that the studio dealt with. In that, the division in the living area is between an informal living space for the residents and a formal one for guests. The small temple featuring a backlit lotus engraving in marble on the wall was constructed at the entrance to welcome guests.
The excessive yet careful use of Italian marble gave the apartment a luxurious vibe. An antique mirror on the back wall has enhanced the use of Italian marble in the master bedroom. Also, the brass and marble inlay with wooden strips elevated the beauty of the dining area, while there was only marble inlay in the fifty-foot-long passage. The furniture was customized off-site to make up for the time constraint in the project.
Popular materials such as cane, brass with metal inlay, and fabric for the furniture captivate attention in the dining area. The team wanted to work with all kinds of materials to refashion the look of the space; therefore, wallpapers were the best pick to highlight wall panels.
